Assurant's 2024 Mobile Trade-in and Upgrade Industry Trends Report reveals that AI is emerging as a higher priority in consumers’ decisions to upgrade devices in 2025, as newer devices became the top turned-in devices in the second half of 2024.
Hemaka Perera, President, APAC, leads the Assurant Asia-Pacific business and is responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive profitable growth in the region. As part of the International Business, Hemaka reports to Federico Bunge and has been part of Assurant Leadership Team since 2022.
He joined Assurant in 2018 with the acquisition of The Warranty Group, where he was leading the Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand business. He started his career in banking, with over 30 years’ Financial Institution experience in senior roles at Citibank, Deutsche Bank and RBS. Originally from Sri Lanka, Hemaka has since lived and worked in Thailand, Singapore, and Australia.
Hemaka completed his college education in Sri Lanka prior to obtaining professional qualifications in banking. He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Professional Bankers Sri Lanka and holds a Master’s Degree from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
